1979

Box Advert from New Manchester Review. June 1979. [Alan spelt wrong]. Allen Ginsberg & Anne Waldman reading at Library Theatre Tuesday 5th June 1979. Also reading was Peter Orlovsky and Steven Taylor on guitar. Taylor was from Gorton, Manchester. His family emigrated to the USA when he was 10. He was Ginsberg's guitarist and musical advisor for 21 years. Taylor joined US punk band False Prophets and played either The Boardwalk, or The Swinging Sporran (trying to clarify...any memories welcome), Manchester, with them in May 1989.

“Going by Andrew Bannerman Bayles site and photos, it was The Boardwalk. www.andrewbannermanbayles.com/back-in... (There's an image second row from the bottom).”

“Thanks Mike - I checked with Steven Taylor and he said it was the Swinging Sporran. Andrew Bannerman thinks he might have mis-remembered (and therefore mis-labeled) the venue as he came over from Leeds.”
