Bryan Fox talks about Ida Carroll's character. Ida Carroll was a student, then secretary and then principal of the Northern School of Music before becoming Dean of Management at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Bryan: Thinking about Ida Carroll over the last few days as we set this up, as I say she had this fantastic focused determination which got her through some pretty difficult times I think and allowed her to achieve what she did achieve. And while she was… you couldn’t put one over on her. If circumstances required it, she was incredibly kind, very thoughtful, although I remember one time I got a bit of a wigging from her because we’d just moved into a house in West Didsbury and I’d been getting a lot of telephone calls out-of-hours and my wife and I decided we need to go ex-directory… that was just not on, the idea that you weren’t actually available 24/7. So I don’t think she ever forgave me for that.
