ticket for The Human Legue.
This was their Pre Dare show with all the slide projectors and
cranky analogue equipment. Being Boiled was their big tune.
They were pretty diferent for 1980 ,but other non guitar bands
were around like Throbbing Gristle and Caberet Voltaire and DAF. (yes i know TG and CV had guitars ,should say no drummer bands).
Later on in the 90s whilst 808state were working at FON studios in Sheffield
we got to know the Humans Legue a bit as they were next door in their studio ,I have a video entitled Gear Porn where we are given a guided tour of theyre keyboards to lots of ooohs and whoahs!..There was talk of colaberation but nothing was finished.

“I went to this gig also (dont remember anything about The Scars). I do remember the slides of Thunderbirds etc shown on individual screens and very minimal gear on the stage. Phil Oakey always reminded me a bit of Capalula (except he could actually sing) They blew it for me when they fragmented into Heaven 17 and Mr Oakey hooked up with the girlies(although obviously from a successful point of view it did them no harm) I for one prefer the stuff on Travelogue. Big reel to reel tape recorders on stage were in vogue at this time, Soft Cell, O.M.D, and several others seemed to feature them. I suppose the DAT took over for a while but who wanted to see one of those.”
