The Men Of 992
The Boars Head
1984

The Men of 992 playing The Boars Head, Stockport, in 1984. This early line up was Arnie, Spilts, Derby and PK on drums. Various guests formed the Men of 992 brass section mainly for Pablo Picasso. The keyboard rig in this picture consisted of a Korg MS10, Korg MS20, Korg Sigma and a Hohner Clavinet E6. Derby later exited the band following the addition of a Hammond B organ at a gig at The Manchester Arms, Stockport.

“is pablo picasso a cover of the jonathan richman song?”
“Yes it was, and even tho' I say it myself, we did it justice ! The brass section consisted of all the usual suspects who guested with the mega band at the Manchester Arms, Dave Moss (who eventually became a full member of the band), Stalwart, Ian Brooks (Landlord of the MA and later The Bakers Vaults), but also One Yellow and Landmark (later of Beat Science).”
“Hi Derbs, nice to see you here. The Hammond was a bastard as you know and every time I had to sack you it was never my idea.Oh, you spelled P.D wrong.Get some Eyelids stuff on here sir...”
“(Also known as Arnie) I think PK may have been a bit uncontrollable as a drummer. I saw PD in the Railway on Portwood, Stockport, early part of 2007, he looks unchanged by the ravages of time !”
“I too saw him recently he looked just the same but he always looked about 45 even when he was about 30.”
