A "newsy" letter in response to another "newsy" letter from Ida Gertrude Carroll (1905-1995, student and principal of the Northern School of Music) to Joan Bamford, former pupil at the school.

Elizabeth Joan Bamford went on to become a music teacher in Wigan, earning herself an MBE for her work. Amongst her pupils was a young Sir Ian McKellen!
