The Oaks Hotel
1977

Poster for an Ed Bangers and the Nosebleeds gig at the Oaks in Chorlton, Manchester, in 1977. Signed by both Ed Banger himself, and then guitarist Vini Reilly (who went on to play as the Durutti Column).

(This poster was slighty too large to scan, so there's small bits missing from the right and bottom edges.)

“I'd completely forgotten about this until I saw it here. When Vini Faal and Rob Gretton started promoting at The Oaks, I used to design flyers and posters for them. This looks like one that was knocked out pretty quickly ... it's the same hand drawn style that I later used to do the giant dayglo posters that Dougie James used inside Rafters to promote upcoming attractions. (The lines of type would be Letraset in those days.)”
