“Arrgh! this was the one with the so called "Tragic Band" when the Captains band walked out on him on the eve of the tour... I have read Mike Barnes excellent book and can't say I blame them for doing so when they were treated so badly.......”
“I saw Captain Beefheart at the Free Trade Hall the next year - 15th November 1975. He was bloody brilliant! Line-up was Beefheart on vocals / harmonica / soprano sax; Winged Eel Fingerling on guitar; Denny Walley on guitar; Bruce Fowler on trombone and Drumbo French on drums - the trombone did the bass parts.”
“Yes I was there and it was amazing (some of my mates didn't bother as they thought it would be the same bunch as before but I couldn't bring myself to forsake him. The trombone version of "Golden Birdies was brilliant and still brings a smile to my face when I think of it.”
