Late great Ronnie James Dio. This was the first concert on the first tour of his own band after leaving Black Sabbath. The band featured former Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain and then unknown guitarist Vivian Cambell, now with Def Leppard. Holy Diver Tour - absolutely brilliant. Support was Waysted, the band formed by UFO bassist Pete Way instead of joining Fastway. This was the last time I went to the Apollo as I'd graduated and left Manchester, sadly. I must have gone back to see friends and popped by the Apollo for old time's sake. Good to see the return of the old style tickets.
