The Boardwalk
16th June 1988

Housemartins autographs on the reverse of a ticket from a Proclaimers gig at the Boardwalk, Thursday 16th June 1988.

Thought I'd post this up as The Proclaimers are at Number 1 this week (April 07) with Bolton's Peter Kay. I don't care what anyone says, these early Proclaimers gigs were awesome. Great tunes, originality, passion and uncanny harmonies.

Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim, then bass player in the Housemartins) revealed his hitherto little known musical leanings and commented on my Def Jam t-shirt and we talked briefly about Public Enemy, LL Cool J etc.

Housemartins/Beautuful South vocalist Paul Heaton now lives in Manchester.

Not sure what happened to Stan? Didn't the fourth member get send down for waving an axe around? (Allegedly.)

“yes tony - i was at this- it was a charity gig i seem to remember.

didn't the housemartins turn up really late? the proclaimers were absolutely brilliant!!!”
“ps- didn't stan go to prison for a spell?”
“Not sure it was a chariddee night? Yep, only saw the HMs at the end. A quick google confirms that it was Housemartins drummer Hugh who did porridge. Guitarist Stan is now a very successful children's author and TV scriptwriter apparently. 80+ books out. Whatever happened to the singer and bass player though?? :-)”
“obscurity!”
