A photo of Night & Day café by James Travis. When I moved to Manchester in 1998 this was one of the only decent watering holes in the Northern Quarter, which wasn't really known as that then. It was just Oldham Street to us. I just to drink large bottles of Budvar and complain about it being warm. I met people like the artist Stan Chow, the lads from Elbow and Clare, who now runs Ginger's Ice Cream. She used to play great 60s funk and soul sets. I also played my first gig in Manchester here. I still get a rush of stage fright when I enter the building.
