“This is the first time the image has been seen, even by June apparently! She told me recently that this was her first time photographing a concert. She was going to see Blondie with a friend. They both worked at Granada. June decided to take a camera as she was getting more interested in still photography and thought she might take a few shots from the her position in the audience. According to June, her friend had a press pass and handed it to her and pushed her through a door leading straight out onto the side of the stage. Rather nervously she stayed there and captured a roll of film of the band. The negatives have remained unprinted or scanned until now. There is another roll of the Buzzcocks preparing for a video shoot, one of which I posted a while back. There are other sheets of negs which I have yet to look at. I've told June she should write her memoirs as she was there when it was all kicking off in the mid 70s. Going out with Tony Wilson, working on the So It Goes programmes with him....she seems to know most of the people involved in the early days of punk and Factory. I think she thinks it's only me that finds all this fascinating!”

“Hi Michael

Great photograph - we have a framed photo of the entire band holding the same poster, in what appears to be their dressing room prior to the concert. The photograph was taken by Harry Goodwin, who donated it to the University shortly before he died. Do you know if June has any other photographs of bands playing at Maxwell Hall? They are as rare as Hen's teeth! You can contact me directly here: Library-Archives@salford.ac.uk”

“Hi Michael,

I'm currently in the throes of writing a book on the extremely important part that Manchester played in the very early days of punk. My primary focus is on the people who were the first to embrace it, coming from the various musical backgrounds of Pips, Northern Soul, Glam and Iggy. I'm not too interested in the stuff everyone knows about. June would be an absolute gem of a person to interview and contribute to it. I have started a piece on So It Goes as this was where Sex Pistols first tv appearance happened, but only limited information. You are certainly not the only fascinated person! My email address is garethflo@aol.com, this is exciting news!”

“Fantastic. I was at the gig and part of the Entertainments team at the University that put it on. Amongst other things I sued to distribute the tickets to the agencies - remember Paperchase, Piccadilly Records and Virgin (long before megastore days) but had completely forgotten about Pandemonium. Great memories of a brilliant night”
