Corporation Pop

Review of U R What History Is by Corporate Pop on A Up Records. I can't remember their exact connection to Manchester, but the City Life policy was to only review records which had a link to Greater Manchester .

“Corporation Pop are the very pinnacle of underground music. It is unlikely that anyone, anywhere will ever equal the purity of their obscurity. While other bands have sought publicity and fame, Corporation Pop have hardly ever been mentioned publicly. Formed in the summer of 1988, the band have barely skimmed the surface of their talents, have yet to perform live and produced a compilation CD of their work, The Glory Years, in an issue of four. If you have heard it you are in a very select and exclusive group. Corporation Pop was always a situationalist manoeuvre. It started with a chord made in Oldham and a key changed in Brighton. In Manchester they met Royston Holroyd, the owner of Star Tracks studio. Unfortunately this association led to a 12" single, reviewed here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpcW1JT3aT8
