Here's another hand-drawn VIALKA flyer, this time for their gig at Platt Chapel in 2007.
From what little information I can gather online, Platt Chapel on Wilmslow Road (opposite the "toast rack") was used as an arts and club space from 2007 - 2012 and is now being sold for likely conversion into flats. I only saw a couple of gigs there, this and DANIEL HIGGS/THE HORSE LOOM in 2007. I think it went through various phases of being used for everything from commercial clubnights to kids art classes to punx picnics; there must be plenty more flyers and stories to add out there.
I saw VIALKA (who were almost permantly on tour it seems) in Manchester in 2005 (twice), 06, 07, 08 and 2011. There's a link to their music in my other artefact on them. They would have been playing mostly songs from their second album Plus Vite... on this occasion, with all the chaos that comes with close-miking a glockenspiel played by a singing drummer.
7 HERTZ were based in Leeds; they had a CD out on Birdwar records which is worth tracking down - it includes excellent versions of the 'sea shanty'-derived tune I remember from this gig and another song I recognised as carried over from (double-bassist) Seth's previous band SNAIL RACING. Seth later moved to London and now plays in EN BAS QUARTET.
U Hrair was a brief promoting alias for Lee who now runs Manchester label Thread Recordings:
