Shack, of course, are a Scouse outfit, ex- Pale Fountains. Still going I think. They "did a Soup Dragons" and had a baggy makeover for a while, changing their sound from their excellent debut album Zilch which they were plugging here.
The Manc interest here comes from support act Andrew Berry, the former crimper at the Hacienda who, legend has it, inspired the Moz track "Hairdresser on Fire. "
The only 2 things that I recall about this night are the high stage which they fitted in the rear of the venue and Mark E Smith holding the bog door open for me. Shack supported The Fall on tour around this time.
