“Sounds like they did two separate one-song encores then rather than a two-songer, as the crowd reaction to them reappearing is immediately before LWTUA. I don't remember that many occurrences of two separate one-song encores over the years, mind you there haven't been all that many times when they've come back out twice full stop!”
“actually no, the two songs are almost sequed by Hooky's continued hitting of bass notes (changing key half way through). The crowd noise will be for 'Lonesome Tonight' which had just ended. Also, 'Lonesome Tonight' is introduced by a replaying of the Vikings theme.”
“Excellent, all of that is cut out on the audience tape. Always thought that Lonesome Tonight is/was a good encore track, and is probably one that they could do these days without having to change key to suit Bernard's voice.”
“I've added LT to the new-order.net gigography listing, of course, with a reference to this entry in the detail listing.
jsz, once again, thanks for taking the time for documenting these details. I agree that LT makes a great encore track...heck, it's great anywhere in the set and it's too bad it wasn't resuscitated for 2006, despite rumors to the contrary.”
