Warehouse Project (Store Street)
6th December 2015

New Order / ACR / Factory Floor. Sunday night at The Warehouse Project and a massive treat.

I managed to score a last minute guestie and was therefore able to avail myself of a free cloakroom and an acceptable carsy.

(Hence no tickets in the image - instead I saved out cloakroom chitties!)

Factory Floor were ace - no drummer for this set, just the pair of them plus modular synths and drum machines. Powerful, crisp, minimal, satisfyingly menacing, sub bass like a sock in the kidneys.

ACR were ACR. As dubby and druggy as ever. It's all about Donald and Denise for me.

DJ Tin Tin played some great stuff: LFO and the Chems, etc, but there were also some regrettable mash-ups and general baboonery.

Against the odds my crew and I managed to squeeze on to the front row for New Order (Store Street is terrible view-wise - if you're not at the front, you might as well go home) and it was well worth it. The current material sounded outrageously good - gone are the lumpen guitars and wan melodies, replaced by piano stabs and strings that aim straight for the euphoric/melancholy pop jugular.

I nearly had an orgasm. And, readers! I was sober. (Relatively).

“Not sure, but I thought I heard him play Tour De France twice!”

“He did, you're right! Heard the Chems, Hot Chip, Mantronix, Klein & MBO, Gerald....one I'm after is a female vocal one, not Shannon or anything like that, was a very good track and between Ratio and N.O.”

“"I used to think that the day would never come..." - standing on the barrier right in front of Gillian's keyboards, my inner 17 year old watching 'The Perfect Kiss' video, feeling 'I am not worthy' as the coolest unsung woman in music glanced fleetingly in my direction! As I went back out onto Store St afterwards I definitely had a Narnia-esque 'back through the wardrobe' feeling...

I'm glad you mentioned not having a ticket because no-one got to keep their ticket - on the way in they were thrown (sob) in a dustbin and when I asked if I could keep mine the guy said he wasn't allowed to let you keep them! I even asked on the way out as well! As someone who's kept every gig ticket (I feel among friends admitting that on this site) I was gutted! I felt compelled to buy a £15 poster afterwards as proof I was there (it's actually a beautiful numbered print so it wasn't a hardship)!”

“It really bugs me when I don't get a ticket. My memory doesn't work any more so tickets are vital!”
