Artefact
Bit of a result to secure these tickets, for a gig that in length was the polar opposite of The Fall's (excellent) 60 mins at Manchester Cathedral last night (29/5/15). We became a bit paranoid in advance that on the door at Christ Church, the ticket collector would tear the stub off, and thus, owing to the ill-placed perforations, remove Ian. That would have been an appalling irony. As it happened, we just got scanned and kept the whole thing.
I thought Dom Gourlay's review for 'Drowned in Sound' was a good representation of the night, so have pasted a link to that below. (though I can't agree about Atmosphere - I really struggled with the, ahem, overly powerful vocals. Sorrreee, Roweta.)
It was a wonderful venue for an epic night's music, made extra special by the gorgeous shaft of sunlight coming through the little stained glass window at the back of the church as we waited for Hooky & Co. to appear.
For the record: where was I when I found out Ian Curtis had died? Kneeling in the middle of my parents' front room floor, listening to John Peel.
