Page 8 of Ghast Up fanzine issue 2, featuring an article, "On The Fringes Of New Wave" by Modest Young aka Paul Morley. The article cites many and various candidates including Bowie's then current release Low, which is credited to it's producer Brian Eno, Judas Priest, Three Dog Night and Gary Glitter, alongside the more obvious choices of Iggy, the Velvets and Captain Beefheart, all three of whom were referenced when Howard Devoto was recruiting musicians at Bolton Technical College. Interestingly there is a glowing appraisal of The City Doesn't Care that was performed by Ultravox at the Electric Circus in March 1977, which surprisingly was never recorded by the band.
