“What was the Bamboo like, Andy?”

“The Bamboo is situated just off the A6 on London road in Hazel grove.

Small (though I think it's bigger these days… yes, it's still going!) friendly, and in the 70s/early 80s Monday night was one of the best nights.

The club was (and possibly still is) owned by two brothers; Clive and John Beeley, who were two of the friendliest guys you could ever wish to meet.

We used to call John "Columbo" on account of his dark hair and the raincoat he always used to wear.”

“My eldest son and his his mates have recently formed AFC Bamboo by way of tribute. They will make their debut in East Cheshire division 4 next season.”
