“I'm Jason Mclean, I was 14 when I was given the change to have some work experience at Pluto Recording Studios on Granby Row in Manchester, Keith was the boss, Kathy held everything together and was really nice and as ever always joking with Steve Penk who at the time was working in the small studio as Phil Bush was as you say playing with the big toys, I was lucky because I was given the chance to work over summer holidays and I loved every minute, didn't care that I was a gofer or made the brews, or painted the loos, I met some really nice down to earth celebs, like Sue Pollard who had an amazing voice, Paul Nicholas who again was a great singer and in the smaller studios they were working on the connect 4 advert with Kenny Everett and the trap door animation voice overs and not forgetting some wind in the willows tracks that were being worked on it was an experience I will never forget and it opened my eyes to a life in a busy studio which I believe is now based in Cheshire. The Clash recorded Bank Robber there in 1980.
Pluto Music composed music for tv and films. One of their biggest clients was Cosgrove Hall.
I only worked there for a short time in the small commercial production studio, while Keith and Phil got to play with the big toys in the main studio.
