“The Smiths did not play this show. First band on were White Savages from Glasgow featuring Douglas McIntyre, Graeme Skinner and Harry Travers two of whom ended up with Johnny McElhone in Hipsway following the Altered Images split. The Smiths were pulled as I recall by Altered Images following the controversy over some of the early lyrics... (Reel Around The Fountain, possibly). There was an almost incomprehensible Paul Morley review of this gig in the NME at the time.”
