Stu Allan
Liberty's (Sale)
1991

1991, the year i started clubbing in "earnest". i went to 2-3 rave nights at Liberty's in Sale, possibly a different night but still a week night. i didn't work regularly at the time -considering it was a school night people certainly uh, went for it.

a great space -it was the old Sale Odeon cinema and this made for a fun layout -you'd enter at the top and gradually descend the tiered floor towards the throbbing, sweaty dancefloor. Stu Allan (he was very particular about the spelling) was the resident DJ, and I'd first heard house music on his show a few years earlier. I remember first hearing Altern 8's "Infiltrate 202" on a system there and the first note of the "drop" (yes kids, they had drops in 1991) fair knocked the wind out me.

...and lycra, lots of lycra.
