Free Trade Hall

Lou Reed at the Free Trade Hall 31/05/1974. This was a great gig, but Lou wouldn't do an encore, and it kicked off and a riot ensued with some pretty nasty violence, and the cops came sharpish.
Lou had played at The Palace the previous year, that too was problematic, he was bloated and out of his brains, couldn't remember lyrics etc. I overheard a security bloke saying they'd been trying to sober him up in the shower. The set was very short, and they had to bring the safety curtain down cos the audience were chuckin' allsorts at the stage, because of no encore.
So it made people even angrier the following year !

“Hello Mark. I was wondering if you'd mind if I used this picture in my film? I am making a documentary about lost Manchester music venues and would really appreciate if you could let me know whether it's ok for your photos to appear in the film.

Thank you,

O.”
