Artefact
Founded by myself and Daniel Maddison, we built the business from scratch and took over the building as an empty shell, left abandoned because of a disagreement on the terms and conditions between Robinson's Brewery and the architects.
We opened 2004 July and having sucssesfully being granted a late licence, swiftly went about using our contacts to book Manchester's favourite dejays.
Two nights stood out from the rest of the week..the Tuesday jam night and the Sundays, Dom n Scruffs reggae session and following that was Afficionado.
Alas it wasn't anything to do with gang related problems that we had our late licence revoked but down to truly awsome multi cultural music scene.
Having our trading hrs cut back something we protested about ( over 3000 petition) as none of the residents that complained about the noise had properties to actually live in while we were up and running as they hadn't even been built.
When we left it was left to the brewery to find a suitable tenannt to come in and take over what we had built, sure enough once it had changed hands it didn't take long for such 'Gangs' to take advantage of the weekness of their operation and shortly after a serious incident outside of the premises the police took the licence away completly.
hope this is useful and more factual for you Abigail, soz about the grammer and spelling ,)
See you about soon hey
