“I was at medical school on Oxford road. From 1969 to1972 our small group used to frequent the Plaza. A really good cheap filling meal. We once took the guy who later became President of the Medics Union there to try it. "Its fabulous" we said. A bit naive, he asked what the large bowl of liquid was. "Its the soup as a starter. But we'd rather tuck in straight away". he then took his spoon and began to slurp it up! Going red in the face he said" Christ its bloody hot" We waited and then told him it was the curry sauce! W were in ther one night when in came two Irish navvies. They ordered, ate and then there was an argument about the bill. The small waiter went back into the kitchen, then came running out with a pan of hot steaming curry and through some at them. They screamed, got up and dashed out. The waiter followed throwing the hot stuff after them. What a laugh that was”
