The Bridgewater Hall
24th January 2007

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy at The Bridgewater Hall (home to the Halle).

I'd seen BPB before (at the Academy 2) and was expecting great things.

He and the band came out whilst all the house lights were on full, and it took a long few seconds before they went down. He said he wasn't used to playing such a formal venue, but most of the audience aren't used to seeing bands in such a formal venue either!

It took a few songs to settle in to the gig. At first I thought we were going to have to put up with the most annoying fans ever sat infront but curiously they all got up and left after twenty minutes (of them doing nothing but photographing and videoing BPB on their phones and then watching it back.... watch the bloody gig instead!)

Anyway- he didn't dissappoint- it was excellent and although I didn't know the majority of the set I still loved it. What a character!
